I've been driving automatics for the last 6 years with an occasional drive in a manual.
Having driven my 348 with the dog leg first gear, I now have problems driving normal manuals. Starting off in second, getting in wrong gear etc.
So much so, that my sister won't let me drive her car.
Do any other dog leg owners have the same problem, or am I the only idiot here?

No, it's a bitch . My old E30 M3 had same box and it took some getting used to .

I'm totally used to the dog leg. I love it, feels very exotic.
I just can't drive normal geared cars.

My Lotus Sunbeam has a dog leg 1st. I love it coz once the car is rolling most tracks can be attacked all round in 2nd or 3rd, so geachanges are a straight up or down affair. Sweet . :D:D:D

I think it's quite easy to make that mistake but haven't done it.

they are mate. I've got a mate with a few contacts in the Retro world, if you seriously want one, I'll ask him. You do know Chevettes are potentially bigger rust buckets than the Sunbeam dontcha??? I was luuuuucky. Mine had been in a garage without moving for 13 years so was rot free.

Sy, the family load-lugger is 5 speed manual, the "Stelth Mondeo V6" is auto and obviously the GT4 dog leg. Never had a problem switching form one to another...... guess it's you?

My Ferrari is lefthand drive, but my daily driver BMW is RHD. I have once or twice, after swapping from one to the other, reached for the gearlever on the wrong side. Doh!

I am the only Ferrari owner who is incapable of driving any other manual car!

Yep when I first picked up the 348 Spider made a few mistakes. Wasn't till I read a few threads on that other f chat place that I realised that the blip on the underside of the gate was badly worn. This would have supposedly prevented me from selecting reverse.
Parking on a very steep incline and waiting for traffic lights to change, releasing the brake and then attempting to go forward in reverse has not been my most memorable driving experience.

Hi angelis
My first car (still own it) was an early lancia fulvia with a dog leg first. I got so used to driving it that one day, when asked to reverse my mate's dad's Datsun off his drive I promptly slammed it in second and drove it through a wall!!!!!.
Still, one less Datsun out there.
Good Luck
Julian.
