The throttle on my 348 has felt sticky/grity ever since I bought the car.Last year I stripped out the pedal, then stripped, cleaned and refitted it.I also cleaned out the area in which the pedal is located. This improved it's action but it still wasn't as smooth as I wanted.
While doing the cambelt service in the last few weeks I decided to sort this out once and for all.So I removed the carpet panel in front of the centre console on the drivers side(5 screws) then removed the plastic trim around the pedal.Next I removed the rod that is connected to the pedal(this disapears foward through the carpet. You now need to pull the carpet back until you expose the cover that is just to the left and foward of the throttle pedal.Remove the 4 nuts and remove the cover.
This now exposes the lever assy that the other end of the rod that connects to the throttle pedal. The other lever/arm connects to the throttle cable. The lever/arm assy 36, pivots through items 37/38/39 & 41 and was very stiff to move on mine.Disconnect the throttle cable from the lever/arm assy, undo the 2 nuts and remove the assy.Remove centre bolt 41 and pull lever away from brkt, remove centre bush and thoroughly clean all parts, you will probably find the grease has gone hard.Once clean, regrease, assemble and refit to car.
I now have a nice smooth throttle:thumbsup:
