Am not sure about this but I always thought that everybody new that the Mclaren was that fast but it never set it properly with all the proper officials and stuff. So therefore it never got the official record. Think the official one was the jaguar xj 220. Not a 100% though.:huh:

Mclaren only managed 241 before they ran out of road..

Maclaren did 241 on a banked circuit, I think they caculated that it would have been 248 if it was run on a flat circuit.
