I need some suggestion/advise/being made to see sense.

I had a f430 just sold it last week, but still have my 1m coupe which is absolutly amazing to drive , i love it had it remapped by dms and its mental 410bhp 470-80 lb .

However i have 3 kids, all under 3, a 8 week and 2.5 year old twins. So wife has sold her X5 and bought a viano (again) 2nd viano. However i was all for buying a 612 with a mutlimac in it which allows 3 kids under 12 or in our case 2 kids with a like carry cot which can be removed once the child is big enough.

But am i trying to buy a car which really cannot cope with the job, i guess what im tring to say am i best buying say a 5 door ie a Maserati Quattroporte, a v10 m5 or something of that nature when i want to drive them and have my toy as well ?
The 1m has to go as i ordered it when we only had the twins and did not think we could/would have any more.
if the answer is yes for the 5 door i don't want to spend much say 20-25 max as i would buy a 599 or something of that ikle as my toy and the 5 door would most likely sit there and not get used that much.
or do i buy a 612 put a mutlimac in it and struggle getting the kids in and out but only have 1 car ?

never owned a 612 and only driven it for a while plus was an early car 05.

i love the idea of a maser but you hear they are bad news ?

any suggestions ? and thanks for reading my terriable english

Rebuild on these is easy. google it and you'll find the threads pictures on ferrarichat and f438 forum.
Getting the bits is easy too now I've found the independent distributor in uk now a sole trader having been laid off by company not interested in selling these bits.has them all in stock in back of his van. i just bought 4 sets for me and mates racing 355 challenges and just used one to rebuild recently clapped out alternator now humming!

just ring his name is Jim Roberts 07973 540449, delivers free in south east and will post national

and you need regulator RN-10 and rectifier VRH-2005_4A (last 3 digits may be superceded by new version but dont worry he'll get the right bits for).

£35 and you can DIY it, not hard. also does coils for peanuts
REGULATOR MOBILTRON/REGITAR RN-10
RECTIFIER MOBILTRON/REGITAR VR-H-2005-4A
IGNITION COIL MOBILTRON REGITAR C-37

coils fit all 348/355
alternator parts for nippondenso alternators also 348/355

While I'm in a posting mood I consider it my duty to warn anyone considering an aftermarket exhaust or manifold to stay away from Stebro PSD Ltd products.

If there is a posterchild for poor customer service, absolutely shameful communication and dreadful management, this is them.

I ordered a set of manifolds for my 355 and indicated these were needed urgently as the car was sitting in my mechanics garage and taking up his only hoist. Payment was made in full within 5 minutes of the invoice being emailed. The person communicating with me was Dan he seemed very friendly and helpful.

A week goes by and nothing. I email and get a one line reply saying it would be another week. On the day they promised the good to arrive, still nothing. I email again and they haven't even left Canada - no apology. Just another one line email with no name. Another 5 days and I get a call from UPS. There is a box for me but they need to contact the shipper. I press them for a reason and they say some parts may have fallen out as there is damage to the box. I tell them these are large exhaust manifolds and they are required urgently. I tell them to send the box to my office and I will see if anything is damaged or missing. A few hours later an empty box shows up at reception. The receptionist signs for the box, not knowing it's empty.

Even though UPS later comes and collects the box and apologizes for having sent an empty box and asking for it to be signed for ..... and gives me a letter stating the same, the UPS site now says the box was delivered.

UPS informs Stebro of all these details yet their agent (RPM Cycle) that sends things overseas and has initially collected the money starts calling me a liar and a thief. I send them the letter, tell them to contact Stebro directly and then tell them I've had enough. It will take them another 2 weeks to fabricate new manifolds and I don't have the time to waste. I purchased some from Nouvalari and had them 3 days later.

For all I know the manifolds may never have been in the box. The box was flimsy and didn't even have strapping on it.

Despite being told I would get a full refund from Stebro this failed to materialize. My friend Dan has all but disappeared. Calls to the office went straight to voicemail. Most emails went unanswered except to say they had instructed RPM to make the refund. Complaints were lodged with the Better Business Bureau but still no refund. After a month I was able to successfully claim the money through Paypal resolution. I was able to prove nothing had arrived but up until that point they never showed me any proof the manifolds had been sent.

My advice to anyone considering dealing with these clowns is stay far, far away. I only wish I had done a little Google research first. There are a couple threads on a Lambo forum that will send shivers up your spine. Read: Real Bad Deal with Stebro.

After a major engine out service last year and only 1500 km put on the car since, the bearing has seized on the water pump (yes - the new water pump replaced during the service)

Ferrari here wants almost GBP4,000 to drop the engine and replace the pump - not including all the little extras like fluids, etc.

I have read that this can be done in situ with the 355; although with difficulty.

Do anyone have any details on how this is done. I have an independent that will give it a try but at the moment he can't see any way of doing it. He's saying engine out as well.

Ok, so this is really a rhetorical question; Ferrari charge lots of money because they can. We're well aware that the cost of options (on any car) is rarely a reflection of the cost to the manufacturer, but this stealing candy from a baby. Surely everything that is included in the HS package is basically no cost difference to manufacture.

Recalibrated Magnetorheological dampers (doesnt recalibration means plugging in a laptop and bingo?)
Quicker steering wheel ratio (new steering box - presumably just different gearing rather than some platinum-guilded rareity)
Stiffer springs (does the stiffness of springs impact their price?)

£4320 for a gimmick, no?

Does anyone know if the CS alcantara was supplied in different shades of red - I'm not assuming but in these interior pictures (all from Rosso Scuderia cars) the interiors are progressively more orange. Could obviously be partly down to the camera being used but not by that much... or is this the red fading to more of an orange?
Also, does anyone know how many cars were spec'd with red or black harnesses? Official pictures mostly show black harness car but most UK cars appear to have been spec'd with red..

Been going through a bit of bad luck lately and two of the things that occured I haven't seen reported about the 348, so think of this as a service bulletin. :D

1. Brake failure.

The brake light warning sign on the dash board comes on.

PULL OVER & STOP THE CAR IMMEDIATLY

I started my car up and the light was on, but the brakes felt fine. Drove it to my local tyre place to put some new tyres. Brakes still ok. Moved the car again and no brake. Solid pedal with zero movement and I had to use the handbrake to slow down.

Even though the brakes may feel ok, STOP THE CAR!!!!!

Cause: Blown 30amp relay located in the passenger footwell

Yep, that's it a stupid relay could potentially kill you. Check it, change it.

2. Handbrake

Sunday before last, I drove into my garage and pulled the handbrake. Handbrake went up higher than normal and made a loud noise like a spring had snapped.

Handbrake still worked fine but had to pull it really high and the "P" (Handbrake) light on dashboard stayed on.

Turns out the cable had gone through a metal partition on the right side of the drivers chair (on rhd car). Metal had rusted and gone week.

You can check yours by removing the trim over the handbrake and following the handbrake cable.

3. Use metal valves rather than plastic valves in tyres

I've always had plastic valves in my tyres for no other reason than that the tyre shop I use don't have metal ones and also because I I never really thought about it.

Ferrari recommends that you always use metal ones for their cars especially if you are doing high speeds.

This has been a public announcement on behalf of the Brotherhood.

Enjoy your 348.

Hi

I was about to remove the centre console on my 355, and i have found a small metal bos marked motorola, does anyone know what this is, it appears to have been fitted after the car was built as the cables are wrapped in pvc tape.
There is another small plastic box at the side, top of the picture connected to it.

F355B will not turn over on the starter

When I tried to start my F355 at the weekend, everything (central locking, immobiliser LED, dash lights) behaved as normal but the starter motor...

When I tried to start my F355 at the weekend, everything (central locking, immobiliser LED, dash lights) behaved as normal but the starter motor would not operate. I’ve done some checks and there is no voltage on the starter motor trigger line when the ignition key is turned to the start position. I do hear a short buzz (fuel injection pump priming the inlet manifold maybe?), so the start position is doing something. I suspect if I put a 12V feed on the starter motor trigger the engine would fire up normally.

This fault occurred once last summer on an outing. On that occasion I cycled the central locking/immobiliser a few times and the car eventually started. The fault has not recurred until now. This time cycling the central locking/immobiliser has not cleared the problem.

I suspected the immobiliser because I am pretty sure the starter motor will not operate if I try to start the engine after the immobiliser has timed out (LED flashing). However, I’ve checked the circuit diagram that I have (sheet L35 in Volume 3 of the Workshop Manual) and this shows the feed from the ignition key going via the relay and fuse panel in the passenger footwell and a multi-way connector to the starter motor, but there is no relay contact or immobiliser in the circuit. My car is a 1997 model (manual gearbox); the wiring diagrams are dated July 1994, so maybe the circuit was revised when the M5.2 ignition system was introduced?

So, my questions are:
1.	Has anyone had the same problem and how was it fixed?
2.	Does the immobiliser prevent the starter motor from operating?
3.	If it does, is anyone able to point me to the location of the relay that cuts the starter trigger feed?

Any help will be very much appreciated. I suspect this is basically a simple fault which will cost an arm and a leg to get sorted if I have to wave a white flag and ask Graypaul to fix it.

The core of the event will be the same as the 2010 road trip, incorporating a drive/ride of a minimum 5 miles for each service person that has made the ultimate sacrifice serving their country in Afghanistan during the current conflict.

However, Rally for Heroes 2012 will have a few additions. The main one being that the first three days will be ran along the lines of a scatter run. All entrants will be given a location to reach by the end of the day. Each vehicle will then be set off at a separate interval, making their own way to the given location. En-route there will be various tasks all of which will be optional, but will award entrants with points accumulating to a daily leg winner and ultimately the coveted Rally for Heroes 2012 cup winner.

There will be a small entrance fee (non-refundable) per vehicle to cover the event costs with any remainder being placed directly into the Charity fund.

The intended route will see us take in some of the most famous tracks and driving routes around central Europe, these include:-

START Dunsfold Test Track (Top Gear Track)

- Le Mans

- Monaco

- Stelvio Pass
- Hockenheim Circuit
Car presents well, straight and clean and with present values going up i am tempted but is no history such a bad thing especially if you are going to put it in for belts/service straight away? All opinions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks:huh:

Just about to take delivery of a 355 Spider. Have read and heard many interesting stories regarding the functioning of the roof on these cars. Seems to be 2 main views/opinions. The first is to put the roof down and leave it down using the mechanism the minimum number of times. The other view seems to be to use the mechanism regularly to keep it in working order!

The roof on the car I have bought works perfectly at present and I want to try and keep it that way!

Views from spider owners?

I’m looking to have a couple of minor tidying up jobs done on my 360.
The window switches and the F1 paddles were worn when I bought the car and the rubberised coating had worn away (window switches) or is chipped (paddles).
[LIST=1][*]Can I get these repaired/refurbished? (I’m guessing that I can) [*]If so, how much is the approximate cost & who does this?[*]How do I dismantle the paddles? [*][*]Door speaker grilles – these could do with a fresh coat of paint. I’m sure that the Satin black aerosol will be fine. Is it easy to get the grille out? [*][*]Crackle black paint on the coolant expansion tank has flaked away in part. Is it easy to renew this? [*][*]The driver seat bolster was slightly worn and the cracks are noticeable. As the rest of the interior is immaculate I'd like the draivers seat to be improved. I belived that it "may have been re-connollised in ther past" (although I'm not sure exactly what that involves) What are my options? What is the approx cost?

I’m fairly handy with the spanners but I don’t want to damage anything along the way.

Any help to the question above would be appreciated. Cheers. :)

I have a problem with the Alarm Siren (believe it is the batteries) and want to remove the unit. I have read other posts of how to do this (on a 550), and followed those by removing the RH headlight unit etc. On a 550 the siren is immediately accessible once the headlight is removed.

However on my 575, I can see the siren, but it is located in a different position to where they are located on the 550s and is considerably more difficult to access.

Does anyone have any tips on how to make removal of the siren easier on the 575? Many thanks for any help you can give.

Being of a certain age its seems that cars I once viewed as ugly are starting to mature nicely.

What I mean is a few years ago I used to think of the Mondial as an ugly car as I did the 308gt4, but I really do not now. It seems that some cars reflect the era their built in and its only looking back on them that the classic lines start to appeal and they become more desirable.

I was looking at some images of the 400 and was thinking what a great angular classic italian shape.

Do you think I'm mental? what other cars do you feel this same thing applies? and have any other cars gone through this ugly duckling phase only to become appreciated much later?

I'll need my first service at the start of July, so I plan to book it in the next few weeks and I need to decide where to go.

Currently, I'm considering (in no particular order) :

Maranello Egham
QV
Autofficina
HR Owen
Riverside Performance Engineering (Alto Riti)

I think HR Owen are probably further than I want to travel, so they may drop off the list.

Riverside Performance Engineering might be an independent most people haven't heard of - but I saw them recommended on another forum - and took notice, because they were rated very highly by the guy that runs where I get my 996 turbo serviced and I trust him.

Maranello is tempting - Mandy has been very helpful whenever I've needed to talk to her, and the basic service cost seems competitive. But I am a bit nervous about costs spiralling at an official dealership if I need extra things doing.

I plan to take a day off in a couple of weeks and do a mini tour. I know that all of the places I've listed have good reputations, so is there any reason to choose one over the other - apart from things like convenience of location?

If you have any views that you don't want to share publicly, please PM me.

Thanks

Battery replaced Dec2010. Here we are at May 2012 - 17mths later and the 70Ah gel battery on my F430 spider is knackered. Done a fair mileage on this battery (4000miles) but I must admit this is p*ss poor performance. I am going to replace it again (£170) but there must be a better solution.

Gel batteries fitted so if you roll the car then you do not have acid running down your passengers legs - unlikely. I have never rolled a car. Has nybody else had such poor battery life ? Do you replace with normal (non-gel) batteries

I know the UK press have long since ceased bothering with anything so tedious as checking facts but even so the Telegraph have surpassed themselves with this: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/n...-pictures.html

See how many mistakes you can spot. Let's start with: a six-cylinder 599; only 3 FXXs made; confusing wheelbase and length for the 250 SWB; including 575(!) and 458 in a list of the 10 most expensive Ferraris...
- RECORD INDUSTRIAL NET CASH OF 860 MILLION EURO
Excellent results from the USA (+16%), United Kingdom (+31%), Germany (+24%) and Middle East (+23%)

Maranello, 10th May 2012 –

The Board of Directors of Ferrari S.p.A. met today under the chairmanship of Luca di Montezemolo to examine the company’s accounts for the first quarter of 2012.

On March 31st, Ferrari recorded a string of excellent results: revenues rose to 556.1 million euro (+13.2 per cent) and 1,733 cars were delivered to the dealership network, an increase of 11.5 per cent on the same period last year.

These results are the fruit of the success of the 12-cylinder FF and the continuing popularity of the 8-cylinder models, most notably the Ferrari California, which is the company’s best-selling GT, and the coupé and spider versions of the 458 which top the sports car segment.

One hundred per cent of Ferraris are personalised by their owners who, since the start of 2012, have also been able to avail of the innovative Tailor Made programme, which allows each client to tailor their own bespoke car using an extensive variety of unique and exclusive materials, colours and finishes, with the assistance of a specialist team.

The F12berlinetta, the most powerful and high performance Prancing Horse car ever built and the first in a new generation of V12s, made no contribution to these results as deliveries will not commence until the second part of the year.

Trading profit grew by 13.4 per cent to 60.5 million euro, while net profits rose by 17.2 per cent (42.1 million euro).

Ferrari’s industrial net cash position on March 31st was the strongest in its history at over 860 million euro. This was achieved despite keeping product investment extremely high and thanks to a net cash flow for the first quarter of 152 million euro.

The one-make series of the Prancing Horse, the Ferrari Challenge, is also proving to be very successful with the 2012 racing season starting with one hundred 458 Challenge cars on the tracks in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

In terms of sales, the US remains Ferrari’s most important market recording growth of 16 per cent even after the excellent figures recorded in 2011.

Sales in Europe were also very positive with excellent results in the United Kingdom (+31 per cent, 177 cars delivered) and in Germany (up 24 per cent). Italy is the exception to this trend with sales of 121 cars, down 65 compared to the first quarter 2011 as a result of the economic situation and the local government’s recent financial initiatives.

In the Far East, after a record 2011, the Greater China market (China, Hong Kong and Taiwan) continued to grow with 154 cars delivered in the first quarter. On May 18th, a major new Ferrari exhibition will open at the Shanghai Expo in China where a 1,000 square metre space will host some of our most iconic road models as well as Formula 1 cars. The display will also feature simulators and interactive points where visitors can learn about Ferrari’s history and the Maranello campus.

The Middle East also delivered extremely significant results with sales this first quarter up by 23 per cent and 81 cars delivered.

“After an extraordinary 2011, starting the year with all the economic indicators on the rise is very satisfying indeed,” declared Ferrari’s Chairman, Luca di Montezemolo. “We have a complete new model range brimming with technological innovations, and which deliver significant reductions in fuel consumption and emissions, down by 30 per cent on average.” He continued: “At the end of the year, we’ll also be unveiling the new Enzo, a limited series model and our first ever hybrid car.”

Brand activities (retail, wholesale, licensing and e-commerce) are up by 10 per cent overall: there are now 50 Ferrari Stores worldwide, including a new store in Madrid which opens officially at the end of May.

Ferrari also retains its leadership in online activities with over 8 million friends on Facebook and almost one million on Google +.

Do white cars sell at the same price as the more traditional colours or discounted because of the colour ?

I know it's subjective, however just want to get a feel as I'm trying to decide between a White or Grigio. if paying the same money and I do the same miles "un managed", will the white be less attractive if I come to part with it?

What's the collective opinion on this?
