Default Advise on buying a 612

Hi,new member here. I'm thinking of buying a used (or pre-enjoyed) 612. The main concern is the gearbox, any reliability issues, or any other things members can advise on. Cheers

    Hi Steve,

are you talking about the earlier manual or F1 'boxes?

Not many 612 owners on here I'm afraid but I'm pretty sure the 612 boxes would share similarities with 430s and 599s???

Its the same gearbox (and engine although more BHP)as the 575 with software upgrade.

    & BTW.................Hello & Welcome Steve

Up to now no issues with my gearbox at all.

I would advise for peace of mind that you make sure that A Power Cube Warranty, to run from the end of the original 3 year, is included in whatever deal you do. And try for a 2 year Power Cube extension !!! This covers nearly everything so should the worse happen it will not be a financial burden.

So thats a Power Cube for 24 months...not some other aftermarket warranty with a claims limit. These are also (unfortunately) sold by Ferrari Dealers.

Other than that...they are beautiful cars (although much maligned by the narrow minded and tasteless folk as ugly cars) get one in the right colour combination and I for one will be very very jelous......

I had a lovely nero/crema 612 - gearbox was the source of alot of hassle if im honest. It was back to the dealers 4 times with the red ! showing on the LCD - telling me to switch off the engine.

Initially they did the usual ferrari thing, and replaced the sensors, but it finally turned out to be a leaking gasket causing it to lose oil from the gearbox.

    Nice car all in all.
