    Default 430 rust - corrosion

    I have a 2006 spider F1,
I have noticed corrosion around the drives indicator on the front wing
also when you open the engine cover, the paint on the rear grill is peeling off and going rusty underneath ( looks like chicken wire!)
    anyone else had this?
any idea what has caused it? its only done 13k
Last time i was in stratstone manc i parked next to a 2005 coupe in silverstone and the wing looked rotten! is this a known problem?
how long is corrosion warranty? it has full main dealer history
obviously its outside its 3 year one (2006 had 3 years not later 4 year warranty)
it does have Power warranty but pretty sure it wont be covered under that, nothing seems to be!!
    thanks for reading

My 2006 430 had all the issues you mention when I bought it earlier this year.

Long story but basically JCT600 paid for all rectification work to be carried out by a local to me high-end bodyshop. Corroding aluminium must be dealt with correctly and I did not trust a main dealer to do it correctly. In fact I'm not sure I trust any main dealer to do anything correctly....beyond preparing an invoice!

But this was under threat of giving car back to them not under warranty so to speak.

But I would have thought original corrosion warranty is 5 years plus?

Apologies, of course I meant to say "beyond 'charging my card' for an incorrectly prepared invoice"

I thought i should correct you on you spelling of dealer - it actually begins with an 'S'.

No, no....that bit (incorrectly calculated invoice) didn't actually happen....just made it up for comic effect.

Yep, all of the above. Only difference was that my 07 corroded on front wing wheel arches. Work will be done under 4 year extended warranty you get with a 2007 car. Rear grill was replaced a couple of months ago, again under warranty. Pm me if you need more info.

    Good luck!

I've got bubbling on my front wheel arches too, it's getting looked at next week when the car is in for service, it's also a 2006 and they've already told me the anti-corrosion warranty is only 3 years so we'll see what happens. Even my Ford Escort Cosworth hadn't started corroding at 4 years and that was almost made from rust
