Passed MOT today (just weaselled through). N/S front pop up light didn't pop up when asked! What a time for that to happen!!

Any ideas? Is this a common fault? Fuse? Motor?

It just would not pop up. Never happened before. Annoying.

Mine dont pop up when asked. They do pop up when the switch is turned on though

One possibility is dirty motor brushes. You could try turning the knob on the back of the motor. Be careful as the light might suddenly pop up. Then turn them off/on several times to give the motor some exercise. The fault might clear.

Had a quick look under my car during recent MOT and I have some fairy nasty holes in the front under tray where the car has been grounded in the past (once by me!)

I plan to remove these parts so I can tidy them up/repair them. Is there anything I should be aware of before trying to remove them? It looks like a simple case of undoing a load of bolts but as I get to know my car more and more, rarely is anything that simple.

Picture is pretty poor but you can just see some of the damage.

Any advice would be very welcome.

    Hello Graham,

If you remove the forward wheel arch liner (o/s) the under section is removed more easily, the difficult part of removing the front bumper (which you don't need to do for this but I thought i'd mention it anyway, is the bolts securing the nose to the bumper inside the wing quarter, they are tricky to get off well and still have skin on your fingers!.

Be careful when re fitting the wheel arch liners as the wrong size screw can go staright through the section and into the washer bottle housing - A mistake that you only make once!

The under section you have cracked is very common on 328s it is fibreglass not ABS so it can be quite easily re matted and glassed, Satin black is you friend for a colour match.

It maybe worth making a skid plate to protect the profile? depends on whether you want originality or improvement.

Feel free to call if you want any advance pictures.

Would you recommend a particular product or doesn't it matter? Just went to order a repair kit and the options are endless...

It will depend on which repair route your going to take, I suggest you use fibreglass, so you will need the gel coat, matting etc, its pretty straight forward, but you need to have a smooth hard surface to glass the matting against so that the repair looks good on the outer surface ready to profile and paint.

Use some light rubber gloves, Clean and rough the inner face of the damaged panel, be carefull with the matting, soak it well and lay it carefully so that it looks good on the inside too, you will need to overlap the damaged area by 8 - 10 cm, don't get carried away thinking you need to build it up, I would probably use strips of matting 4cm wide by 20cm, lay a well soaked piece along the damaged area and try to get the shape about right, then the other strips 90 deg accross it, it s a slightly messy job, once its dry (leave overnight) use a hard drying stone chip protectant (Schultz under body works well) this smoothes the inner rough surface so that you do not keep splintering yourself, remove the hard outer mould then you will need some profiling filler, apply, rub down when dry and paint satin black.

A well ventilated room is required. A product like this will do..http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fibreglass...item27db8e6ba9

    Thanks Tim. Really helpful.

I'll post my effort once I can find time to do this.
