328 Tinkering

Had read good things about this trim restorer so thought I'd give it a go.



Really bought it for the lower black plastic trim on my Range Rover as the plastic looks a bit grey against the black paintwork. Used it on the black trim around the window frames on my 328 and it's come up lovely.

Also did the door mirrors which were looking tired



Finally, gratuitous side profile before I tuck her up for the next week or so.

Thanks Roy. I'm not sure about the make up of the product and don't have the bottle to hand now to check.

It's quite expensive at around £23 for that little bottle but you only need a very small amount on a cotton pad and it goes a very long way.

Not sure if they're interchangeable but Superformance have various rubber seals for the 208/308 range

Are they the same size/fitting?

Graham - Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, they only have stock for GT4 rear lights so back to square one.

Guess I'll just have to be patient

Taking inspiration from Jeff's 348 thread, I plan to have a go at tidying up my rear badge today.

Here it is at the moment looking a little tired.



It's one of he earlier metal badges and I think it is supposed to have white painted lines throughout the centre of each digit. You can just about see where some white paint remains.

Should be a quick job to make it look much fresher. I'll post update later.

Finished off tidying up my badge today. It took three layers of carefully applied white paint - thanks to Jeff's 348 thread for the idea application tips :-)

Decided to tackle the trim behind the doors today as it was loose on both sides. The passenger side kept falling out when people got in out - not great.





The retaining plugs are shot...



As this piece of trim has been trimmed in leather, the leather will need removing so I can replace the fixings. It looks like someone has tried to fix it in with glue previously but I want to do it properly so it stays firm.



So off with the leather and on with the Cillet Bang. I'd read this stuff was good for removing sticky off 355/348 parts and worked a treat for this job.

Some new retaining buttons from Halfords :-)

I'll now need to get these panels re-trimmed in crema leather. A few searches on here suggest that KHPC might be a good place to start. It's a bit far for me to go but at least they will know colour etc. I kept the old leather for the match though.

Looking forward to getting this job finished as it's been bugging me for some time now.

My wife had bought me a new Ferrari keyring when I got my 328. It has carbon fibre on it etc and whilst nice, was not really in keeping with the car.



I managed to find an original 80's keyring on eBay which looks far more the part :-)



Hopefully I didn't come across as too ungrateful!

hmmm, when I eventually got my 348 my wife gave me a list if jobs she needed doing and a shopping list !
