    Default 360 Silencer Refurb

I got fed up with cleaning up the white powder, that escapes from the silencer, in the engine bay, so as an experiment I discussed with one of my customers, who just happen to be a small engineering company, about the possibility of carefully removing the stainless steel outer covers and replacing the thermal insulation board and then re-assembling it, I've attached some before and after shots and although it's fairly fiddlyName: Ferrari_01Silencer_01.jpg

It had the consistency of a Pizza base - knowing the Italians that's probably what it is

    Geoff,

What did you put inside it?

I've often thought of getting another one a doing the same but using exhaust bandage to pack it with....

Funnily enough, I was in the garage just yesterday evening with the brush attachment on our vacuum cleaning the powder off ours. Your silencer's very shiny Geoff, you must have a lot of time on your hands!

I wish I had it "electro polished"

Of course the problem with loosing the powder is not just cosmetic, but the loss of insulation leads to higher engine bay temperatures, in my case the right hand side of the silencer was approx 50 Deg. C, higher than the left side, I say approx. as infrared digital temp. thermometers are not so accurate when measuring reflective surfaces.

I've got 2 for sale if anyone's interested.

TBH the white dust problem was part of the reason I went for the Tubi Level 2 exhaust from Tim Walker.

It was fitted last week whilst the 360 was in for its service, and this weekend was the first time I've had the car out on known roads after the motorway trip home last week. A real result, no dust at all after a 25 mile run, which was definitely not the case with the original Ferrari unit. It also weighs considerable less than the original unit. Oh, and it sounds pretty good too
