Looking at other forums this seems to be one sticky thread collection that could be really used on here.
For the older cars it would be be useful to have a top 20 list of items that faiil, the
mileage rates and fixes either OEM or otherwise...

Just look at Hills catalogue - these will be the bits that wear out![]()
A good idea, but we'd need to watch how we implement it. At the moment, without model-specific sections, it might not be so easy to keep it organised and in order.
Definitely food for thought though![]()

Good example. I am looking at hills ball joints at the moment and I cannot discern any advantage over stock items. As an engineer my next step would be to find out which has the superior record for longevity. My local techs say neither they each last around three / four years.
Tie rods are a good example of the hills pieces being superior but again without longevity data I can't assess accurately the likely costs of ownership.
Our marque has a reputation for owners with Rosso tinted glasses, this kind of data would help us and prospective owners understand the realities of the ownership experience.
Agree they should be model specific threads.
Good idea.
Hills must last longer...
And with the average Ferrari being a garage queen and not let out over the winter the stainless ones won't rust away whilst parked up with water trapped inside the dust seals
my thoughts too but would be nice to know actual results.
A full suspension refurb which I need for the 599 before the Mille Miglia is around £3000 in parts alone so I would like to know what the life expectancy of the up-graded parts is.
At 23k miles my 599 needs a full suspension overhaul, CCM's are 90% worn etc. So all of this is useful for those intending to drive these cars.
Could do with a bidding war for the work next...
