Hi Scott, I would have thought a decent impact gun would release the crank pulley bolt easy enough and a HE ring nut tool for the drive pulleys after locking the crank on the flywheel.

I like your videos, but not sure that is the correct environment to try and do what you are doing.

You need to take that cover off and change both bearings, also you need to check that none of the bearing parts has fallen into the engine

At the risk of sounding unkind I dont think treating a high revving/highly stressed V8 engine the same way as you would the engine in a £500 old banger is a good idea.

I would want to take off the engine cover (even if it means an engine out), and check the insides are OK and at the same time change ALL the bearings and seals on that end of the engine. The bearing was so bad you cant see what other damage might have been done to the casing/shafts etc. Also if one bearing has gone that bad then the other might on the way out as well.

Agreed the engine needs to come out of the 308 and very likely the inner bearing needs to be replaced and shaft checked. This may also assist with the Euro conversion as manifolds, pipes and hangers all need to be changed and repositioned to house the differences.

I'm having a rethink of the plan, that all needs to happen inside and in the dry. Ive got an engine out I want to do first on the Ratarossa ready for spring then i'll pull the 308 lump out.

Iím enjoying the vids Scott. Keep them coming...youíve certainly a lot of plates spinning

I probably have about the same room at the side of my car, but at least a roof over my head.

That bearing looked too far gone not to have damaged the inner one so a big gamble to not go further into it..
