    Default Ferrari 208 Turbo Restoration thread

    Long Term WalkerSport Project.

    We have aquired a 8616Km (from new) Ferrari 208 Turbo, this 2 litre V8 is quite a rare little thing, she has had a light knock in the O/S/F which has only damaged the box section wing carrier and nose of the car. The previous owner bought the car as a project, but died (after collecting a lot of rare parts) and the car was left (not the best conditions) under a carport for 7 years. Time for WalkerSport to bring her back to her former glory. She is HPI clear and ready for some love and attention.

    Basic Specification;

    Ferrari 208 GTB Turbo Nero LHD. 1991 cc Ferrari V8 Quad Cam, Single KKK turbo charger which operates at tiny 0.6 bar. Engine derivative F106D, 220BHP and 1284kg's.

    One of only 437 cars ever produced worldwide.

    She came to us in a pretty sorry state, but definately a viable rescue.

    The rear was mainly surface rust and damp corrosion from below...

    Engine bay will require a full recomissoning, surprisingly she still starts and runs (holding our breath for the belts sake!)..

    The interior is very good and will come back to a high level without any major works, the only real marks are from things being stored in the car..

    We are still trying to source the cars full history (we know some, but not everything), any help greatly appreciated!! Such a shame for a cracking little car, luckily kilometers are in her favor...

    Since aquiring the little 208 I have been torn on whether to reconstruct the original panels - which would be a great deal of work and still give a compromised final finish or whether I should replace it and after consulting Steve W (cheques in the post Steve - posted on the day of the Strike I'm afraid ) We have managed to aquire a new (used) front end - it just so happens that the cut in sector is exactly were I would like to cut the 208's panel out..

    With many thanks to Prosport - for the 308 front end and the new deep front spoiler (below) we are nearing the strip down process. I have penciled a date in February for the main bodywork project to begin, the engine will be lifted just before christmas as an early present to unwrap. Lets hope it snows soon so I can play when we're a little quieter.

    We did ask the Ferrari Pirelli Classic race series if we could run the little 2 litre - but we received a flat NO! as the series runs a non turbo policy....shame because if we turned the turbo up from .65 bar to 1.2 bar we would achieve a pretty healthy BHP figure, although we would also have proper 1980's monster turbo lag! but hey..it would have been interesting!

    Time for the interior strip down, 10 minutes here and 5 minutes there....this is a long term project you know!
