Default Friendly Independents in South East?

    Hi All

I'm hoping to get a 360 from having a Vantage.

With Aston Martin, independent garages largely charge the same as, or in some cases more than, dealers.

That meant that plugging in to a diagnostic system would cost £175 for a simple 5mins.

If it's the same situation, so be it, but just wondered if that was or was not the case.

Also, if there were trusted mechanics (whether or not recognised Ferrari) who might be good for doing more standard things like brake pads or other items.
But if course leaving the services, or more specialist items, to be done by a dealer/recognised specialist.

    Thanks

In the SE there’s plenty.....AV Engineering and the Ferrari Centre in Kent are usually the ones recommended by there are others around the M25 like QV in Windsor.

    Thanks.

Would those independents ikely plug into a diagnostics machine without charging near £200 for the privilege?

I'm guessing the days of meets at independent garages where diagnostic checks and vehicle check ups were provided for not much are long gone?

    Thanks

I would doubt the independents would charge anything like that for a quick check. I guess it depends how much time is spent actually diagnosing potential issues. The key is for the technician to fully understand the data.

As mentioned above AV Engineering, QV, Autofficina. Bell Sport & Classic have a nice set up and a tech with a good reputation.

I suspect you'd find that the Ferrari indys are friendlier, and may well view a quick diagnostic test as part of getting to know you and your car.

I drive a very long way to The Ferrari Centre in Maidstone, and there are others too who I'd recommend depending on where you live

I'd be surprised if QV charged to read an error code - maybe they would if that's the only time they saw you. Although for most things, a cheap OBD plug in and Facile means your can read your own codes anyway.

There is nothing special to changing things like brake pads so if you don't want to use an Indy for that kind of stuff you simply need any competent mechanic or space to be able to do it yourself. I need to replace my own front pads and intended to do it during my current 2 weeks off, but the never ending cold I have has stopped me.
