Default Any other 205GTI enthusiast/owners here?

Always been a huge fan of them they came out.

bought my first in 1988 - lovely 1.6GTi in Alpine white, my second in 1992 - another 1.6GTi but in the limited edition laser green.

Bought my current one off of ebay year before last - its a 1.9 in red very good condition - sadly now in need of a clutch, gearbox and front suspension.

They are sensible money - anything between 500 and 2500 depedent on what you want. Iconic cars and great fun to drive.

Just in the process of trying to buy this one....

One of my most favourite ever drives was in my first ever new car : 1985 red 205 GTi 1.6 - torrential rain from the Isle of Wight ferry back to London - effectively it was one long power slide - just incredible fun - I often wonder what it would feel like now twenty years on

this is my old 205 1.6 gti. Couldn't get insurance on the 1.9 with my 'history' at the time.

No matter, a brilliant car, i loved every minute of it. It was my first poper performance car and in a way, i wished i never sold it.

My old man was a service manager for a larger peugeot dealership in the south, so always bought home different Pugs. But the night he bought back one of the first 1.9GTI's is a night i will never forget. We went out for a evening blast and i'd never experienced anything like it (i was about 12 i think).

My dad with as much understatement possible said, "Not a bad old bus, goes allright" as it was pinging and popping when it was sat back on the drive.

Jos they feel no different ...still sweet as a nut mate. I had a gap of 12 years in ownership jumped into my 1.9 and grinned from ear to ear as i took it out for a blast on the twisties. Oddly my Cs reminded me of the way they feel on a good bid of road.

Had a 1.9 many years ago... ran rings around the Golf GTi I had at the same time. The way you can adjust them mid corner is sublime.

I think the Slick 50 saloon car championship is the way to go with these... is that what you're planning Rob?

Will certainly be tracking it - not done my homework on what it is allowed to compete in yet. Just thought it was a great car to get into things with.
