Signal radio in Stoke are doing another reverse auction thingy with a F430 or 100K as the prize to be given away on xmas eve.

You need to text signalcar xxxx (Where xxxx is your bid in pence) to 88821

Lowest unique bid wins

What they do is offer the same car across all the local stations they own in the UK so it looks like someone in your area will win but in reality thre are 10-20 stations all playing for the same car

how do you win, woul have thought that 1p (being the lowest value in pence) would be the winner.

I have obviously missed something

It's the lowest UNIQUE bid, as in no one else has said that amount:wink3:

so by that logic the first person to say 1p wins? or do they look at decimalised values below 1p i.e. 0.1p?

You have to be the one with the lowest bid,and only you.If you and 10 others bid 0.01p and only 1 person bids 0.02p,then that person wins.

I see, worth entering then, potential to get one the best presents you could ask for.

A mate and I were discussing the feasibility of texting every value up to, say, £10,000.00. Even with the cost of that many texts, you stand to make on the car.

Of course if the lowest unique bid was £10,000.01, you'd be a bit gutted...

Isn't upto 10,000.00 1 million pennies, hence 1 million different bids upto 10,000.00 hence if it's 1.50 per bid that's 1.5 million quid? hardly cheap for a 430

And therein lies the flaw. This was a last orders conversation... I suppose you could do it up to *1000 (maybe that's what we came out with the other night...) and still turn a small profit. Rather high-risk though.

I tried a few 4 digit numbers which were fine but when I went for a 5 digit number I got a message back saying it was unrecognizable!!!
