I think i speak for us all when i say i've been very moved by the story of this brave young lady. Let's pls organise a small gift for her for Christmas. Nothing massive in mind, just to show how happy we are she's on the mend.
Suggestions pls?

Did you want my help with a paypal account.

Surely we would be better off asking Richard to ask Becky's family what would help them in the long run and just buy a smallish pressie for Christmas.

I don't know how safe it is to post your paypal details, it's probably ok, so if you're happy to do it, can you please post them so we can get things moving?

Richard (rmdferrari) can we assume you'll be happy to actually make the purchase and ensure it gets to Becky?

Fellas, mates, friends.

Just don't know what to say........ had a quick look earlier tonight at the thread I posted yesterday to see if anyone else had replied, and was amazed at the kind words and thought and suggestion (inky) to get some flowers for Becky for Christmas.

I then saw this Xmas present sticky and read through the offers and started to cry..... a little moist now typing this. I am overwhelmed by the feeling of love and compassion that has flowed from this thread and all of my origional ones to do with Becky. This has been a real eye-opener to me with regard to the type of people who reside here, some of whom I've met but a great deal that I havn't, and bar one, not met Ray..... kinda restores ones faith in human nature.?

As far as presents are concerned, may I make two suggestion: Firstly I need to speak to Ray over the next few days and see if he has any thoughts as to what would be suitable. Somthing as simple as fresh flowers for a month may be ideal. Secondly, I'd prefer not to be involved in any collection of money. I'm happy to be furnished with/collect/purchace gifts, but I would feel uncomfortable being sent funds. I think it was Kevan who kindly offered to organise this, if so thats good with me.

Thank you all again.

Thank you all for your kind offers of contributing to buy Becky a present for Christmas. I've spoken to Ray today and he has advised me the ideal present would be gift tokens for clothes. Her favourite shop is Tammy Girl which I understand BHS now own. Apparently she's very keen on "fashion", and her mother recons she would love some new things to wear.

There have been 23 people so far who have offered to contribute 5 toward her Christmas pressie, so that's a fantastic bonus for her and the family.

I will PM everyone who's registered their support on this thread with my home address. If you could send cheques payable to Ray Groves (Becky's Dad) at my address, he can turn these into vouchers. Alternatevely, same address and send BHS vouchers.... which ever is easier.

Lastly. Could I ask that you also send me a picture of you with your car and your name (and f-car name) on the back. I will then collate these onto a picure frame and give to Becky. As someone who wanted to become a barrister and buy her dad a Ferrari, and to put a face to the kind people who have supported her, I feel this would be a good thing to do.

If I miss anyone out, forgive me and PM your details. Also, now you all have my address, I expect you to avail yourselves of full tea and biscuit privilages if you are passing this way.

Regards.

Richard

Sorry Richard, forgot all about this, you will have a Cq from me this week.

Yes. Things are looking up indeed. As previously mentioned, Becky is due to spend one or two days over Christmas at home. In addition to this visit, the specialists are hoping she will be able to go home most weekends from late January. There is government funding to make alterations to their house if required (happy to pay tax for that kinda project).

Becky is having 5 to 10 minuites of lucid thought and speech an hour, and will then revert to quiet and a bit of mumbling.....Dr's say it's the brain trying to catch up with the information being gathered....I guess it's abit like watching a video clip from a site, and when sometimes the "buffering" catches up with the "play" there is a temporary stall and a dis-jointed image?

She is able to take her weight on her legs for short periods during physiotherapy, but is mainly confined to a wheelchair.... which is anoying her greatly, but she's showing determination to rectify this situation. I'll ask Ray to take a picture when I see him next so you can all see who you've helped. :)

Taking into the recent replies here, there are maybe 8 or 10 people whom I havn't had any contact from after supplying my address to them..... I'm sure this is due to forgetfulness, so I'll drop them a polite reminder if that's deemed acceptable??

I'll probably try to get the vouchers/chq's to Ray mid next week (12th ish) so he's got a chance to cash them and go shopping with Becky's mother in plenty of time. This will give me a week or so to work on the picture.

Thanks guys.

Richard

Thanks Tony. Ray's here now (Sun 21:10 after Top Gear) brought my camera back with a couple of pics of Becky which I'll post tomorrow..... I can't believe the improvement, six weeks ago in a vegative state/coma and given no hope whatsoever, now able to talk and complain like a normal 12 yr old.

Tony,

Most the dosh is in, 135 so far which is fantastic. Not heard from only two people which is pretty good going. I copied some photos from threads/posts of people's cars who didn't send one and printed yesterday at Tesco. Should have the "montage" ready early this coming week and I'll post a copy of it.

By all means un-sticky this, I'll open a new thread to show my work!

Thanks everyone.
