    Giles’ 488 Scrapbook

Fabulous to have that record of your build. Will we see it on drive it day (sans fake carbon mirrors…)? 😉

Is that just with the water sluiced off and not towelled?

Oh that’s quite surprising. Maybe it’s just the images then but I thought I detected a mottled texture which implied spraying (not that it really matters) as powdercoatings end up really smooth. One of my cars (non-Ferrari) has sprayed wheels and another is powder coated and they are quite...

They look fine Giles but sprayed rather than powder coated, which is appropriate for the winter set. Presume you would go powder for the summer set?

Looked great in the metal yesterday Giles - see if you can get this one to 200,000 miles…

RE ceramic coatings - they come in different standards so you could have a 2-year coating, 5-year etc. But you’re right, no need to wax and with a car like the one you’re getting which will probably be treasured and used relatively sparingly they would all last longer than specified.

She looks a beaut Giles and that colour really is gorgeous. Changing the rims back sounds a good idea (although I’d go silver but appreciate your desire to return to as-specced).

    F430 Front bumper skid plates

Hill Engineering. Around £100 per pair in the UK. Tricky to fit unless you have a ramp as you need to drill holes beneath the bumper for small bolts which will be tricky to access. Some have used strong double sided adhesive tape but Hill don’t recommend that.

    Warranty inspection

I bought my F430 around a year ago as an Approved car with a 2 year Ferrari New Power 15 warranty. Upon rereading my documents recently I noticed that it is actually a 12 months + 12 months warranty and the car must be inspected at the end of the first year to make the second year valid. I...

    Service history and GDPR

When I bought my first Ferrari a month and a half ago from a main dealer I asked for copies of previous service records so I could build up a proper history file. The service book is stamped with full main dealer stamps but has no details of work carried out within these or any additional work...
