2019 'CS Weekender' tour dates & Locations

I doubt many if any will pass 100db. I love Castle Combe and have done probably 30 trackdays there predominately in 7's but some I 355/ 328 needs to be treated with respect as it's an unforgiving track, particularly Quarry and Tower.

Question I suppose is with noise aside is there 20 people happy to stump up £300+ for a trackday in their Ferrari?


One thing I could explore if the interest is there is a few years back we ran some academy days for novice 7 drivers to learn the limits of their cars in a safe environment, you get to do 5 or so disciplines under the direction of Ards instructors inc slalom, lift off oversteer, simple timed sprint etc etc and at the end of the day you do a 15-20min trackday session putting into practice all you've learned. It was on a disused airfield so if you got it wrong there was just miles of grass and nothing to hit. IIRC the cost was around £160 a car.

I’ve often thought that Anglesey would be great but would need to be a 3 day weekend to get the most from it. I mean meet up on a Friday for a drive heading to north wales, short drive and track Saturday, and short drive Sunday.

Tbh though, I think an airfield or sprint option would get higher participation.

I’m good for any dates, these weekends are so good I will re-arrange almost anything around them :grin:

Dates wise I think reading through the preferred dates are

May 11/12 (as it happens our Wedding anniversary but not a problem!!)

and Sept 7/8


Do others concur?
 
Some track time would be great but the noise of most of our cars will bust most track limits :cry3: An airfield would be a good option as they dont have noise limits, but its very difficult to find one with a tarmac surface that isnt in constant use.

I have flown into Long Marston, but they are trying to wind up the airfield to put 3000 houses on it. It looks like its going to shut with businesses being given notice of eviction and all sorts of court cases being raised by all sides. I think mothballed MOD airfields like Hullavingdon (recently sold to James Dyson)would be our best bet but who on earth would you ask ?

I've driven on most airfields as trackways// driver training with MSE. In the past they've held days at Abingdon, Colerne, Heyford, Hullavington, Keevil, Wroughton, Enstone, Kemble and recently at Lyneham. They now only do days at Abingdon.

Kemble went commercial, Hullavington and Heyford have been sold, Keevil is active again, Lyneham and Colerne have anti car neighbours and the RAF/ Army are too frightened to upset them.

If Marston doesn't work Wroughton might be a possibility but surface is or certainly was poor, doubt Abingdon will be possible. Let me speak to MSE, they'll know if there's anything :thumbsup:

Joking aside I agree the airfield option could work. If we are looking at the full track day maybe we're all better joining the FOC and going to Silverstone? :yikes::flogdeadhorse::stirthepot::shakeass::coat:

That's the only reason I would join the FOC for and quite a possibility next year
 
Dates sound good. Only one holiday booked fro next year in the summer!

Airfield sounds like a good plan.

We could always wait till Dyson builds his test track and sneaking and have a night-time session :grin: Show him what a real car is all about; although I hear he has some toys including F car.

Another thought for track days, (not just for this thread) - Couldn't somebody with FOC clout or the CS Committee, approach the FOC to ask about having CS members participate on one / some of theirs? I understand that they struggle with numbers and this would certainly help.

I'm sure there's lots of politics that may prevent this from happening, but if you don't ask etc...

I can see the headlines now: "Those hooligans from CS....." :laugh::laugh:

The FOC have no grounds to complain...were they not the ones who disrupted the tranquillity of Port Meirion last year; and suffered the wrath of "Roger" and his Trip Advisor review? :laugh::laugh::laugh:

I struggle with getting them to organise anything for all the members in Scotland, or within 5 hours drive of the members in my Area Group so good luck...

tbh there are many more options to having a fun, safe trackday for a much more realistic price than going to the FOC
