360 flashing x on dash.

Guys,Can anyone help me please..All lights go out when starting and dash always says check ok but, centre of dash shows a large flashing amber X.Never seen this before in 3 years of owning car.Just had oil/filter change and new plugs fitted.

Is it something to do with the lighting level on the dash back lights?
 
Karl thinks that as i had a flat battery this has caused the amber x.I did not use any jump leads but,just placed it back on a trickle charger for a few days and although it seems fine the amber x keeps flashing.
I need an sd2 which should sort it out.
