Hi All - The guys at Rardley Motors have finally found a long-term solution to the 456 window sag. Dean and Martin have worked with a local engineering firm to be able to press out the original aluminium pivot used on the 456 door window regulators.
The original pivot is replaced with a steel item, the two arms of the scissor mechanism are realigned, and the joint is reinforced. This allows the window to raise and lower correctly and prevents the annoying gaps at the rear and front of the door glass.
I believe a company in the US offered a similar fix, but for me, it was too costly and impractical to wait for parts to be shipped to the US and back for repair.
I collected my car from Rardley this morning and the fix is TRANSFORMATIONAL. The car is so much quieter and nicer to drive.
The cost for my car was £240 + 3.75 hrs labour. The regulator on my car was very, very badly out of shape, so needed some fair significant repair.
I've attached a video below - the damage to the door seal was caused by the glass being previously so misaligned.
I'd 100% recommend giving Martin a call if you'd like your 456 to be quiet and watertight!
