YEH!! No more crawling on the floor under cars, I am now the owner of a hole in my garage floor :D

Concrete is still a bit wet; but well chuffed!

Now that looks good - have thoughts for this myself and now I have a photo I can send to my builder :thumbsup:

:dude:

you can get prefab pits, but they cost a fortune! this cost next to nothing :)

If you park the Ferrari over the top, you can completely hide the body hidden underneath

Is there any forced ventilation for the pit. I believe it is supposed to be mandatory.

If not; Take care if you have any open fuel in the garage at any point as the fumes will sink into the pit and stay there in a flammable state for some time.

yes guys, constructed of 6" blocks, and backfilled with concrete. Its not V long, but as neither of my cars have anything in the middle and have rear engines I'm not that bothered :)

Plenty of ventilation! I just open the garage door..

That brings back memories! LOL My dad had an almost identical pit which I used to use to work on my spitfire LOL

Just as a suggestion - on my dads at one end he had done an extra row of breeze blocks which acted as a step into the pit (which you could also sit on for a breather) which mitigated the need for a ladder. If you have any blocks left over might be worth putting a "step" in.

Hi Jeff
Cheers mate :) It is a bit old skool I guess.. but for a couple of hundred quid you cant go wrong! I'm going to strap the ladder to one end. I need to connect up the electrics and the lights, then we should be good to go!

Nice bit of rubblestacking  make sure that the electrics are intrinsically safe - nasty vaours will collect in the pit, especially after a curry night

Im trying to find a flat screen TV the right size for one end, then I need a beer cooler and I could have the smallest man cave? If I pull the Ferrari over the top when Im underneath I can also get away with doing the washing up :D

That's it - pick axe, spade and trowel are coming out this afternoon

Today I tried the pit out and adjusted the handbrake on the 308, so much nicer than using a jack :) The pit could probably do with being a couple of feet wider and a couple of inches deeper.
But still well happy.
