Thanks for the replies re the broken stud. I'm going to get the pros onto this as the margin for error is pretty much non existent.

In the meantime, two new roof locating pins arrived from Egham.

It's a real shame as I've been looking forward to the event for months.

As well as the unpredictable weather, we are mid building work and the house is in turmoil so it feels a little unfair to disappear all weekend.

Good luck if you decide to go. Looks like it will be nice from early morning onwards.

    Cheers
Thanks Graham, a pity you cannot make it as it is a very nice location. I will be there now the car is all back together with a new alarm. Only 10/15 minutes from me so not far to travel.

BTW, still not rained here yet but now very overcast and feels like rain in the air.

I finally managed to get the hinges off. Thanks for the tips. In the end I managed it by pushing the allen key in and forcing it down at angle. This gave it just enough grip but meant I could only turn the bolt about 1/8 turn each go. So it took ages and my thumb is sore...

I've coated them in dw40 and will leave over night to see if this helps free up the mechanism.

Any ideas how I get the remaining leather handle off? Was thinking of just drilling out the rivet. Is this the way to go?

I'll then need to get new rubber 'boots' made and attached. Will probably send to stickynomore in US for this job but want to get the things smartened up and working properly first.

Had a play around with hinges today and the action on both is pretty smooth now. Amazing what a little wd40 will do.

They are still looking pretty ropey though so I'm sending them to unobtainumsupply.com in the US who will sandblast the rusted metal for me and fit new rubber noses.

I've also ordered replacement leather pull handles so I'm hoping the latches will be as near to good as new in the next few weeks.

Spent a few hours detailing my engine bay today. It wasn't filthy but it's amazing how much there was that needed a clean up since I did it last time - Particularly down in those hard to reach places. Looking good now.

    Default Bad Angle

This is one of those cars that does not have a bad angle at all anywhere.

It must be very satisfying for you that over this period of time the car has just got better and better. Good job!
