Manual 360 gear shift issue (3rd gear crunch)

Hi,
I am new to the forum and I have read up as much as I can but I can't see anyone with the same problem as me.

I have a Manual 360 and have recently had a new clutch fitted. When I drive the car feels great but I can't get into 3rd gear. No matter what I do:

(2nd-3rd change)
(4th-3rd change)
(2nd-Neutral-3rd change)
(4th-Neutral-3rd change)

When the car is parked I can get it into 3rd.

The gear shifter surround hasn't been removed so I dont think it is an issue with alignment of that, any other suggestions? When the car went to the garage it didn't have any issues with going into gear.

Broken 3rd gear synchro ring would be my guess.

Well it's gear specific (3rd). Only a problem with the car moving. And not related to the gear shift linkage (another common problem) as you can engage 3rd easily enough while stationary.

I hope someone else has a better suggestion otherwise the gearbox internals might need inspecting.

I haven't rang him yet as I'm sure he doesn't want people calling him for advice. I will try and get to the bottom of it a bit more first.

Is this classed as excess play in the shifter or is this normal?
