Default 355 Fuel line replacement recommendation

I have just watched a video on Facebook (Ferrari F355 Fan Club page) of a Silver 355 in Hong Kong driving past on fire from its engine bay. It is coming from the same side as the fuel pump/filter etc. It got me thinking how often should the fuel lines be replaced on a 355 and I take it they are date stamped ?.

They should be date stamped with the manufacture date.

I'm not sure how often they should be replaced; but I would replace them on a car of that age if they had not already been done. (Now adding it to the list to check at my next service!!!).

I do know that for gas hoses, accepted best practise is every five years. There does not seem to be any specific requirements when we are talking pleasure use. Commercial use will be specified by the manufacturer.

Rewind (pun ?) a little - the last major recall on 355 was due to a fuel junction block which had incorrectly attached lines - often after engine out service - and this is what caused the fires as I recall - the fuel lines are an inspect item at each service

I know from my experience with working with kerosene heating boilers that the oil supply pipes can just go and leak fluid everywhere and they are just the supply pipes and not under too much pressure. They should be changed yearly for braided or every 5 years for the "long life" ones and of course the Ferrari ones will be made for higher pressure/ tolerances etc. but still they must have a use by/replacement time. I have priced up all the Ferrari ones and you are looking at around 1550 just for the 7 fuel pipes !!

Take them somewhere like Pirtek. Doubt they would charge that much to make replacements!

yep and the problem is that those new genuine Ferrari lines on the shelf could be date stamped from early 2000s so could be 18 years old themselves !

As a348w has said pirtek can make you up a set. There are others out there that also make them. I had them replaced 3 years ago on my 348. Similar daft costs from Ferrari, and as stated they could have been on the shelves for some time. They cost about 75 for each fuel line.

Was the fuel line replacement not part of the recall regarding the fuel block clamps?
