Dear Fellow Member,

I've been asked to do the honours as RO despite not being very good at it last time. Onwards and upwards...

Position up for Election

There is 1 (one) Committee position up for election – sssdu01 (Simon)

The Returning Officer will be mon the fish (Gordon).

Timetable

Saturday 27th Feb (Day 1)

Returning officer appointed by the Committee - COMPLETE.

Email out to eligible members noting the election has started – in progress...

Anyone wishing to stand for the position up for election should PM the RO....NOW

1100 1st March (Day 3)

Window for submitting nominations closes. NB In case of query, timestamps on PMs will be the determinant on meeting this deadline!

RO posts names in the Announcement thread as they are received and will announce final list after 1100.

2nd March (Day 4)

Campaigning begins

Q&A thread created

Manifestos can be submitted to the Announcement thread via PM to the RO.

A single dedicated campaign thread can be set up by each candidate.

All club rules will be rigidly enforced (including PM rules see the Constitution pages if in doubt).

Midday 3rd March (Day 5)

Voting opens.

We will be using an internal "survey" to carry out the vote again this year (it worked fine last year so no need to incur additional expense). The thread will be placed in the Club Lounge and the link also posted here. A final email reminder will also be sent.

Voting will also be allowed by PM to the Returning Officer (mon the fish)

Midday 5th March (Day 7)

Campaigning officially ends. ALL election threads will be closed. Alternative threads are NOT to be opened.

Midday 9th March (Day 11)

Vote closes.

Midday 10th March (Day 12)

Result announced no later than this date/time (to allow time for the RO to post outside of work/running/dossing about)....

Should you have any queries, please send a PM to the Returning officer or the Committee.

Nomination window has closed, and Pete is the only person to have put their name forward.

I would suggest that we don't go to the bother of a separate Q&A thread, and if anyone has any questions for Pete to ask them here.

The poll will open in due course.

I guess I may as well put up my 'election manifesto' here as well.

I promise to:

- Not mention dehumidifiers ever again.
- Refrain from pointing out how fun older non-assisted Ferraris are to drive.
- Never again refer to cars with an F1 box as "automatics".
- And stop arguing with Mod all the time (although I like to think of it as 'vigorous debate').

I intend to keep these promises about as fully as most manifestos are kept.

On a slightly more sensible note I know that running this place can, at times, be a faff (weeks of wrangling with lawyers when some members had opinions on a certain 'dealer' was something I could have done without last time I was on the committee - please don't all do that again......) but I think CS is a valuable resource for members and I think most people get something out of it whether that's technical advice, a place to organise a meet up or just a natter about shared interests. I've also got some time on my hands at the moment and that's not likely to change for at least 3-4 years so happy to do it.

If anyone does have any questions for me feel free to ask. If it's something difficult I can always just refer it to the current committee ..........

Even though Pete has only been operating as a mod over the last few years he has bean a great help to the comms in helping keeping this place going.

He is the only candidate to put his name forward and I hope members will now endorse his candidature. I for one will welcome back as a comm with open arms.

At least that means I'll get one vote. May even vote for myself so it could be two but not yet decided..........

Agreed - couldn't have put it better myself

Vote thread now closed. In a surprise result that no-one seen coming, Pete took it 9-0. Commiserations

Cheers Gordon, I feel humbled to have got 100% of the vote (of maybe 1% of the membership but I'm going to gloss over that minor point .....). I'll spend my time on the committee trying to make this forum and Club Scuderia generally work for the membership.

Now, about those 'manifesto' promises...........
