Jules has rang in - just setting off on the chunnel - weather good. The Aston Martin that was featured on Top Gear on Sunday is entered as one of the 59 teams and speaking of Top Gear Steve Berry is participating in the run, so having a good time so far. I suspect the run will get a little competitive:wink3:

The motor racing legend becomes the first ever person to drive a production car through the Channel Tunnel today.

He will drive the length of the rail link's central service tunnel – normally reserved only for specialist service vehicles – as part of the 37th annual Beaujolais Run.

The 31-mile trip from Folkestone, Kent, is to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the opening of the Tunnel, which normally carries only trains bearing cars, lorries, passengers and freight.

According to the tunnel operator, Eurotunnel, the event is in keeping with the firm's reputation for providing the "greenest" way to cross the Channel with a car. "Two forward-looking businesses, with ground-breaking, environmentally friendly products are working together to show the world that low carbon travel is now a real option," said a Eurotunnel spokesman.

The drive will takes place today at 11.15am, with Surtees – famous as the only person to win motorcycle and car world championships – expected to be welcomed in France at the Eurotunnel terminal at Coquelles, near Calais, at about 1.30pm local time.

Meanwhile our team (22) has had an enjoyable day driving to Reims, stopping off on an organised tour of the famous Tattinger Champagane House, cellars etc then onto dinner at the hotel in Reims after a long day of driving where the 59 teams can discuss tactics for the next days push on down to Macon.

So here's my diary

Arrived in Reims yesterday about 4pm for a tour of the Tattinger Champagne house - great time!

There are 45 cars about 6 or 7 Astons plus the silver Aston which top gear used on last Sunday's episode.

Tony Reid - touring car racer joined us before flying off to Argentina for more racing.

This morning we were set a treasure hunt - 5 clues that you had to decipher to determine your meeting point. i.e each clue was a location which you had to arrive by the shortest number of miles so I switched the sat nav to shortest route and it took me across some amazing French D roads.

Blasted past the Astons, everyone loves the sound of the Stradale !! There are some lovely older cars including 2 Jaguar E types, a replica D type plus a TR 5.

The company trackaphone is tracking our position and speeds!

Tonight we are being entertained at Louis jadot for some wine tasting then the beaujolais is released.

Car is behaving but has bottomed out hundreds of times -
